Dr. Etzkorn attended Fonda-Fultonville Central School and after graduation, worked for a time before deciding to become a registered nurse. In 1982, Dr. Etzkorn entered St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing and Fulton-Montgomery Community College. The institutions had an agreement where the nursing students took many core classes at the College.
Following attainment of her RN degree, Emily worked as a Medical/Surgical and ICU nurse at Johnstown Hospital and then a Coronary Critical Care nurse at Albany Medical Center. Wanting to fulfill her goal of becoming a health care practitioner and changing her sites towards a medical degree, she returned to school at SUNY Albany, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
She then attended Albany Medical College and graduated Cum Laude with her MD in 1994. She proceeded into a dual residency in Adult Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Albany Medical Center which she completed in 1998.
She then moved to Amsterdam to practice medicine, opening her own primary care medical office there. She currently resides in Amsterdam with her husband Jerry.
